About Year of Equity

Over the past nine years, A&S’s Passport to the World program has featured different areas of the world and interdisciplinary topics, bringing a wide range of academic and public programming to our campus. For 2019-2020, the 70th anniversary of Lyman T. Johnson’s successful lawsuit to integrate the University of Kentucky, the College is excited to sponsor “The Year of Equity: Reflecting on Diversity and Inclusion at UK 70 Years After Desegregation.”

The program for next year will feature a series of events to look both backward at that historic moment and forward to increasing equity and inclusion in our communities, at home and abroad. The Year of Equity seeks to spark meaningful dialogue on issues across race, gender, ability, sexuality, class, ethnicity, citizenship status, and religion on our own campus, in central Kentucky, and around the globe.
